Little Landings Play Mat Safety — Materials, Certifications & Warnings

Little Landings play mats are made from premium EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) foam — independently tested and SGS-certified non-toxic, and rated safe for children aged 0+. This page covers our materials, what we've tested for, age suitability, care instructions, and required safety warnings.

What Little Landings mats are made from:
Every Little Landings play mat consists of two components: interlocking EVA foam tiles and a printed top film layer. EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) is a lightweight, closed-cell foam widely used in premium athletic footwear, orthotics, and children's products. It is soft enough to cushion falls, firm enough to support infant development, and — in Little Landings' independently verified formulation — free of detectable lead and all 8 regulated phthalates.

What SGS testing confirmed:
— Lead content: 8.78–9.96 mg/kg (legal limit: 100 mg/kg — our mats test at under 10% of the limit)
— Phthalates: all 8 regulated phthalates non-detectable (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DIBP, DPENP, DHEXP, DCHP, DINP)
— California Proposition 65: passed for both lead and phthalates

Full certification details are available on our Trust & Credentials page.
Age suitability
Age suitability: 0 months+

All Little Landings play mats are independently certified safe for children aged 0+, including newborns. Our mats have passed the US Safety Standard for Infant Support Cushions (16 CFR 1243), covering occupant surface firmness, incline angle, sharp points and edges, and small parts testing.

Cleaning & care
Wipe clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not submerge tiles in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, or solvent-based products — these can damage the foam surface and printed film layer. Allow to air dry fully before reassembling. Tiles may be separated for cleaning and reassembled without tools.

Important safety warnings
— Plastic bags can be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation, keep all packaging away from babies and children. Do not use plastic covering in cribs, beds, carriages, or playpens.
— Never leave children unattended on the play mat. Always use with adult supervision.
— Inspect the mat before each use. Discontinue use at the first sign of damage or product weakness.
— In the event that the printed film separates from the foam, immediately discontinue use of the affected tiles, discard them, and submit a warranty claim.
— This product is not a toy.
