Frequently Asked Questions
Everything parents ask before they buy — answered honestly.
Are Little Landings play mats non-toxic and safe for babies?
Yes. Every Little Landings play mat is independently tested by SGS and rated for children aged 0+, including newborns. Testing covers total lead under CPSIA 101(a)(2) — our foam measures under 10 ppm against a 100 ppm limit — all 8 regulated phthalates under 16 CFR 1307, all of which came back non-detectable, and California Proposition 65 for both lead and phthalates. Our mats have also passed the US Safety Standard for Infant Support Cushions (16 CFR 1243) and CPSIA physical safety testing for small parts and sharp points and edges.

How do I clean a Little Landings play mat?
For everyday messes, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry. Do not submerge tiles in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, or solvent-based products — these can damage the foam surface and printed film layer. Allow to air dry fully before reassembling. Tiles may be separated for cleaning and reassembled without tools.
How thick are Little Landings play mats — is it enough cushioning?
Our mats are 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) thick — significantly thicker than the standard foam tiles sold in big-box stores. That cushioning absorbs impact during head bumps, tummy time, and rolling, while remaining firm enough that babies don't sink or wobble. It's the sweet spot between plush comfort and developmental support.
Will the play mat scratch or damage my hardwood floors?
Not at all. The underside of every Little Landings mat has a smooth, non-slip, scratch-free surface that won't mark hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, tile, or luxury vinyl plank flooring. The mat grips the floor gently to prevent sliding without any adhesive or suction — and lifts away cleanly.
